Marida

Marida Hines is a graphic designer, illustrator, and photographer with over 25 years experience as a communicator, in particular in using vector and raster programs for creative and technical applications.

As an Adjunct Professor at Montgomery College, Germantown, Maryland, Marida instructs CG120 (Digital Art and Illustration), a computer graphics class covering the creative use of PhotoShop and Illustrator. Her students learn how to use these tools for photomanipulation and illustration, as well as aesthetics, creative thinking, color  and composition, typography, and web design. In addition to applying these skills to the Workshop4DigitalPhotography Photoretouching and Digital Illustration workshops, Marida co-teaches an ongoing class in traditional drawing with pencil and charcoal at a local community center.

Marida loves teaching and believes that every person has a unique set of gifts to be tapped. With the right encouragement and guidance, everyone can discover an inner creativity that they never knew they had, and she has seen extraordinary results in a remarkably short time.
Marida is also Sole Proprietor of Dog Days Communications LLC, a print and web design studio in Gaithersburg Maryland. Her clients include The District of Columbia Public Schools, The New Teacher Project, Eye on Education Publishing, The Heifer Project, The Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area, The National Institutes of Health/Office of Biotechnology Activities and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, The World Bank Group Library and Archives of Development, Phillips Health International, Beaconfire Consulting, Global Impact, Shapiro and Duncan Engineering, GeneDX Inc., CBS Outdoor, and many others.

Winner of a prestigious Association for Women in Communications’ Clarion Award, Marida was the sole creative consultant for marketing the annual National Capital Area CFC fund drive for three years. Her designs have appeared nationally and in Federal agencies throughout the Washington area.
